About Yashica:
Hi, I’m Yashica! I’m a Clinical Professional Counselor Intern who believes that therapy is more than a profession—it’s a calling. My purpose is to help individuals heal, learn, and grow mentally and emotionally so they can live fuller, more meaningful lives. I’m deeply passionate about creating a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their stories, process emotions, and move toward lasting healing.
Throughout my journey, I’ve seen how powerful compassionate, trauma-informed care can be in helping people reclaim their sense of peace and strength. I feel truly honored to walk alongside each person as they take steps toward growth and self-discovery.
Education:
I earned my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University in 2013. Before that, I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Management, which provided me with a strong foundation in both organizational systems and client-centered care.
Experience:
I’ve worked in the mental health field for over two decades, supporting individuals and families across a wide range of settings—including residential treatment programs, hospitals, and community-based services. My career began in the late 1990s, and since then, I’ve held roles such as residential instructor, mental health technician at a children’s hospital, psychosocial rehabilitation specialist for youth, and substance abuse counselor.
During my practicum and internship, I had the privilege of working with clients of all ages—from toddlers as young as two to older adults. I’ve supported individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and neglect, experiences that have strengthened my ability to provide empathetic, trauma-informed support. My focus is always on fostering trust, safety, and empowerment in the therapeutic process.
