About Vanessa:

Vanessa is a dedicated Marriage and Family Therapist intern with a passion for guiding individuals on their personal mental health journeys. As a Mexican American, Vanessa deeply understands how cultural influences shape one’s interactions and experiences in the world. She draws on her own background to empathize with those from similar cultural contexts, offering insight into family systems, practices, and customs.

Vanessa is committed to fostering an environment where clients can thrive, feel safe, and find support. Her goal is to empower clients by helping them explore their inner world, gain a deeper understanding of themselves, and recognize the strength they possess within their relationships.

Education:

Vanessa earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she explored various avenues for serving her community. Her passion for helping others guided her to pursue a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling from Indiana Wesleyan University. During her graduate studies, Vanessa deepened her understanding of individuals within the context of their systems and developed a strong appreciation for integrating personal beliefs and faith into therapeutic practice.

Experience:

Vanessa completed over 500 hours of direct client interactions during her final year at Indiana Wesleyan University. In this time, she worked with a diverse range of clients, including court-mandated individuals, clients needing assistance with emotional regulation, children with Autism or ADHD, those struggling with depression or anxiety, and couples navigating relationship challenges.
